Welcome to The Mediterranean Tastes. This is our first post.
We are a family of 5: 2 adults and 3 beautiful kids aged 7, 5 and 2 years. We live in this wonderful island for about a year, after having lived for a long time in Tuscany. It would be absurd to say that living in Sardinia would be the best solution for everyone and that if you live here you do not need anything else. Surely here you can see the effects of the crisis that is experiencing Italy in recent years (here, the unemployment rate is one of the highest in Europe). You can notice a marked difference between life in villages (where it is easy to find people dressed in traditional clothes and where he often speaks first of all in the local dialect) and life in bigger cities. It is also often perceived the desire not to have anything to do with the rest of the world, as if the island is enough in itself. Also for those who did not grow up here, living in an island, it could negatively affect the everyday life.
In short, to live here, from certain points of view is not easy ….
Ours was a life choice, a desire to finally be creators of their own future and Sardinia for us is a good starting point: here the cost of living is lower than elsewhere, the lifestyle is less stressful and there are many things you could do. Furthermore just for some of the things said before, here you can still find handcrafted products of high quality, at a low price. It is with these products that start of our project: a search for those small producers that create “niche” products of high quality, that we try to bring to your table.
We hope to have you as companions on our journey …. we’ll see you soon, good trip !!!
