Bosa

One of the Most Beautiful Villages of Sardinia

Bosa is a village between the river and the sea, a place that fascinates, made of alleys and stairways of trachyte (magmatic rock) with a mix of stately and buildings of poor quality , palaces, churches and works of art. As  frame of this village there are the vineyards of the famous Malvasia(see post), amber wine DOC which is the identity of Bosa and match very well with the typical pastries of Sardinia such as sospiris or seadas(see post). The Malvasia can be consumed as an aperitif while enjoying the sunset on the banks of the River Temo, that you can go up by boat for about 6 km, living a unique experience that allows you to get a different view of this village (the only navigable river in Sardinia) and of its colorful houses. To visit in the village, the Cathedral of St. Peter, one of the most impressive and ancient romanesque churches of Sardinia, whose construction dates back to the twelfth century (the laying of the foundation stone dates back to 1062 as shown on an inscription on the stoup), and on top of the Colle di Serravalle , the castle of the same name, also known as the Malaspina Castle, marquises of Tuscany which began its construction from 1112 to defend against attacks. Inside you will find the church of Regnos Altos with frescoes belonging to the fourteenth century, unique in Sardinia. Along the River Temo we can find and admire, also, the old tanneries (Sas Conzas in Sardinian), built between the ‘700 and’ 800, declared a national monument in 1989, and of great economic importance to the country until the 60s, and of which remain instruments of work and testimonials that will soon become museum and that today can be seen in various exhibitions.

Do not miss, maybe coming to the village after traveling the road SP105 which connects to Alghero. One of the most beautiful roads that you will ever see !!!
